Caisteal Maol

Caisteal Maol is the ancient 15th century castle, at Kyleakin on the Isle of Skye. The ruins of the castle are in a beautiful location and can be reached by a coastal path. However, you need to take account of the tides. With spectacular views, it offers a great photographic opportunity.

The Uig Pottery, Uig

Run by Alan and Margaret Freestone, the Uig Pottery is based in the north west of the island. The workshops are laid out in an open plan format so that you can see potters at work, either throwing pots on a traditional potter's wheel or on semi-automatic machines.

Talisker Distillery, Carbost

Talisker House takes its name from the Norse name for the mountain Thalas Gair or Sloping Rock. Founded in 1830, one of its greatest fans was Robert Louis Stevenson. If you fancy tasting a forty-year-old, 102°proof malt, then this trip should not be missed.
